It seems as though the list of cannabinoids is endless. While many know what CBD, THC, CBN, and CBG are, there are still many we are exploring the benefits of. One such cannabinoid is Dehydrocannabifuran (or DCBF for short).
Dehydrocannabifuran is a mouthful (try and say it five times fast, I dare you.) and this specific cannabinoid's purpose is just as baffling as its name. According to Cannabi Journal, "DCBF’s function in the human body remains a myth since its discovery. There is no clinical trial to tell how this compound behaves with the human body receptors."
Cannabi Journal went on to state, "DCBF is almost not present in the cannabis Sativa plant but can be synthesized from cannabidiol in yields of 29%", explaining why so little research has been done. Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, has been the major focus of research to determine its own merits. The CBD market has created a need for independent research to fight old stereotypes and promote a legitimate health alternative.
At the time of this writing, there is little we know about DCBF and its potential benefits beyond its chemical makeup. Just like CBV and CBT, we are only beginning to understand the effects minor cannabinoids have on our bodies. Through dedicated research, we are slowly unlocking the benefits of DCBF and the other cannabinoids the Cannabis plant has to offer.
